Promote Your Business with Facebook - 5 Tips

Facebook with its millions of members, presents a not-to-be missed marketing opportunity for businesses and non-profit organizations. Facebook offers the marketer a number of ways to use the application for marketing. Here is the best news of all. The price is right. These marketing tools are free unless you choose to support your efforts with advertising. If you want to promote your business, organization of event, here are five tips for using Facebook to get your message out.

1. Build a Group
Facebook is all about networking. Groups provide an excellent opportunity to tap into the social networks of your group’s members. Groups are easy to create. They are simply Facebook pages where group members can interact with one another, post pictures and videos, and carry on discussions. Having a group page for your business can go a long way to creating a community of interest for your organization or brand. Groups are particularly useful for causes and non-profits with highly focused publics. Brands and businesses can also use Facebook groups. For example, a Facebook group would be an excellent extension for a software users group. Facebook offers a number of options for customizing your group pages and for communicating with group members. Facebook groups are quite flexible.

2. Create a Page
Businesses do not have profiles on Facebook. They have pages. Instead of friends, they have fans. It costs nothing to have a page for your business. These pages are less interactive than those of a group. There are advantages to having a page instead of a group. Pages are focused on the brand, business or organization; whereas, with groups the focus is on group interaction. The two can work together to give you more coverage. To create a page, you must be legitimate representative of the brand.

3. Plan an Event
Another option for businesses wanting to use Facebook for marketing is to host an event. Events must be time bound. When you set up an event in Facebook you will need to include a start and stop date. If you are launching a new product or holding an event, don’t miss a chance to use Facebook to get the word out about it. Each event invitation that you send requires an RSVP so if you want to control numbers for an event like a pre-sale open house. The events page also lets you send out waves of invitations so that you can add to your guest list at any time. You can invite your friends, fans and group members. From within Facebook events, you can send your invited guests additional information about the event to build the buzz and enthusiasm for it.

4. Go beyond Facebook
Use your other marketing communications tools to let you customers and potential customers know about your Facebook presence. Add a link to your Facebook page from your web site. Be sure to include a notice on your e-mail marketing about your Facebook pages. If you are one of the millions of Twitter users, be sure to use this vehicle in your Facebook marketing campaign. Tweet when you create your page thus announcing its presence to your Twitter followers.

5. Obey the Rules of Social Marketing
Facebook, as with any social media application, requires a different style of marketing, which, for lack of a better term, I call “social marketing.” Inherent in social media is the notion of community. Community members are real, genuine people. If you are a fake, expect the community to out you. It is expected that you will be polite to the community and respect the other members. This means you should avoid blitzing them with your marketing message.

To effectively market in social media, you have to be constantly providing value to your readers. You cannot just be blaring digital white noise at them. So, as you craft your Facebook marketing campaigns remember to be genuine in your communications, valuable in your content, and diligent in providing a steady stream of new and valuable content. If you obey the rules, you will be rewarded by your fans.

The Impact of the Economy on the Web

The Impact of the Economy on the Web

Unless you’ve been hiking in the Sahara, you know the economic news is not good. The question, of course, is how does this affect the web?

Recession. It is an ugly word, but one that appears to be more and more relevant. The real estate industry is bottoming out. The dollar is down. Unemployment is up. It makes you wonder if the candidates for President really know what they are getting into.

On a more practical level, the question facing online businesses is how the economic downturn will affect them. Is it all going to be gloom or is there any silver lining. Well, it appears to be a mixed bag.

The thing to remember with the web is business results tend to be pretty quick. Whereas other businesses see delays of month, you tend to see any trend on the web now. A drop in demand for your product or services is not required to snake through a supply line before you feel it.

Let’s deal with the bad news first. A slowing economy is going to lead to one distinct action – a pull back on spending. People that are not confident about the future tend to hold on to their money. This means fewer sales for many online businesses. This is particularly true if the items being sold are not functional, life necessities. Obviously, there will be exceptions, but this will be the general trend.

There is some good news, however. A downturn on the web leads to two results. The first is less competition. Many of your competitors will disappear or pull way back on their marketing efforts. This can give you an opportunity to take over more market share, particularly when it comes to search engine optimization. When companies pull back on their optimization efforts, they lose rankings and you can fill them.

A secondary bit of good news is more sublime. Fuel prices are as high as they have ever been historically. They are forecast to continue to go up with $4 a gallon for gas a realistic figure in the next few months. So, what do all those SUV owners do when it is time to buy something? More and more of them are going to be sitting and clicking through sites to make their purchases. Why spend $20 or $40 on gas when you can have it delivered to your door?

The economy is a dynamic beast. The natural cycle is to go up and down, so don’t fret excessively about the downturn. It will bounce back. Heck, it’s a great time to buy a home!

Giving Your Online Business a Successful Start

Giving Your Online Business a Successful Start
by: Robert Brookes

If you're looking to start an online business there are 3 big decisions you'll need to make first in order to give your business a successful start. Obviously much consideration will need to be given to variables such as startup costs, equipment needs, and even your own skill sets. However before you even get this far you will first need to decide upon 3 very important areas of your new business that are much more fundamental in nature. In fact your success will rely heavily upon the decisions you make in these areas.

Let's quickly review these 3 key areas below:

Choose Your Business Model

There are many varying business models from which you can choose when starting an interest business. You can sell physical products, digital products, membership sites, or even coaching programs. Whatever you select be sure it's a match with your skill sets and personal preferences. This will only make the long hours you spend developing the business more enjoyable.

Choose Your Niche

The niche or market you choose is one of your most important decisions and should be done with careful and accurate research and consideration. Ideally you'll want to select a niche that is of personal interest to you while also demonstrating good profit potential.

Research is the only way you can determine profitability in any niche but if you're serious about being successful this step should not be a problem.

Develop an Online Marketing Strategy

Once you've determined your business model and the niche you want to enter the next step will be deciding upon an online marketing strategy. There are numerous advertising techniques you can choose from but your choice here will be determined by how applicable a particular technique is to your niche. You'll also want to consider your budget and personal preferences and talents

In order to start an online business you obviously want to carefully plan your actions and make the right choices to insure a successful start. Remaining realistic about your startup costs and how your skill sets match up with what your new business will require allows you to focus more on the unexpected variables. Ultimately however your success will be heavily influenced by the choices you make concerning your business model, market, and marketing strategy.

How to get traffic to your site!

How to get traffic eh? I could go on and on about traffic. So many different methods, but if you're on a budget and not experienced, I'd definitely recommend staying WELL CLEAR of Google Adwords!!

Don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic way of getting traffic, probably the number one way, but it can also be the number one way of emptying your pocket REAL quick! There is a very steep learning curve with adwords that can cost you BIG money if you don't get it right. Especially with YourNetBiz!

It'll cost between £1.60 and £2.00 per click or more to rank number 1-3!! For YNB I wouldn't recommend it unless you are looking to spend at lest £1000 per month. I do highly recommend it once you are confident in your market and product and you have educated yourself fully on how it works, but until then, keep away.

Here's a fantastic free book on Adwords that helped me out a lot - http://bit.ly/3Zrn4j

Also, the KING of Adwords is Perry Marshall. His book, 'The Definitive Guide To Google Adwords', is THE book on Adwords. It's not free, but give me a shout if you're interested and I'll send you a link to a free 5 day intro course for that, but until then, the other book should be great for you to learn what Adwords is all about.

So I recommend sticking with social media and other free methods like free online classifieds until you're educated and ready to hit Adwords.

If you're on a budget, Facebook and YouTube are king. A lot of people rave about twitter, but I'm not into it. I'm not saying it doesn't work, clearly it does, I just don't really like it and haven't bothered really hitting it yet. I may in the future though.

You need to get your own personalized capture page ASAP. It's real easy to do even if you're not too flash on a computer.

So here's what I recommend;

TO BE DONE EVERYDAY!

1. Write a simple blog post. Doesn't have to be full on or award winning, just something that educates and gives value. Where you can, hyperlink to your capture page. This helps with your capture page google rankings, especially if you have a Wordpress blog (which I highly recommend).

2. Facebook - Update your status every day/few hours. What ever floats your boat. Just get something out there.

Add 20-25 new friends everyday. I recommend keeping it at this level. FaceBook has really cracked down on people adding loads of friends and if you do, you may get your account suspended. If you keep it under 30 a day, you should be ok.

Send a message to all of your newly added friends that introduces yourself without selling to them. Just include a link to your page at the bottom. Again, this helps your website Google ranking. Put something like I did on your wall. Quick, simple and polite.

Network with people. Comment on their pics, status, comments, anything. It's about getting your name and digital signature out there. Every time you leave a comment etc, you're leaving a trail behind. That's what we want.

3. YouTube - If you haven't gotten into it yet, best you get it sorted! In my opinion, YouTube is number 1. Video marketing is king and if you're not doing it, you're going to be left behind.

Set up your channel. Take a look at mine to see the way I have done it. You can see it here - http://www.youtube.com/user/Topwealthsystems
YouTube - Topwealthsystems's YouTube
Pick yourself a good username. If you have a name like IcanChangeYourLife, I'm more likely to look at your channel than if you had a username like Johnsmith001. See what I mean?

Obviously, add some videos to your channel. Remember, it's about quality, not quantity! Try, if you can, to look outside of the box and do something that no one else is doing. Everyone tends to do the same videos and it can get a little old. If you are going to do the same sort of content, you better make sure you can deliver it better than everyone else. Try and stand out.

Subscribe to 10 channels every day! When you subscribe to someone else's channel, your link is displayed on their page - exactly what we want.

When you subscribe to these channels, add them as friends too. Also, leave a comment on their channel. Once again, this leaves a link back to YOUR channel on their page.

Also, if you can (it can get a bit much some days), leave a comment on some videos.

If you do these things, you WILL see results. But the thing to remember is.....

YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT!!!

Do these things everyday weather you feel like it or not. Just force yourself and it will pay off for you down the road.

You've probably heard it all before, but it's a marathon, not a sprint! Keep plugging away, be consistent and you will see the rewards.

Stick with it mate and make it all worthwhile!
